I had a teacher in high school who wore cool sneakers, long before sneaker culture was very popular. He told us he'd buy shoes and purposely wait a year or two before wearing them, so as not to be inundated with students buying the same ones. I wanted to see what it would feel like to do that with a song. Written and recorded entirely in May 2017, I waited 4 years to release it in order to see if I'd still identify with the song, or if I'd regret the decision. That would be the cost of waiting.
